Cultured Football #02
Alcoyano, Baah, Bendtner, CE Jupiter, Partick Thistle
The FA Cup remains a wonderful competition but there’s no place for it in this week’s Cultured Football reads. Stay safe, read more.
Real Madrid’s surprise elimination by third tier Alcoyano gave prominence to the previously side lined Copa del Rey. Yet the competition’s revival does not come as a surprise but it the result of a targeted restructuring.
Kwadwo Baah rose to prominence a few years back having run on to the pitch as a Crystal Palace ball boy. Now he is making a name for himself at Rochdale - where he has been described as a “special talent” having been saved from the footballing scrap heap.
On the opposite end of the scale to Baah there’s Niklas Bendtner who had a multitude of opportunities across his career but failed to make the most out of any of them.
They might not have the stars or appeal of their rich neighbours but CE Júpiter have a revolutionary past that is increasingly attracting disenchanted FC Barcelona fans.
Not exactly football, but love this document that Scottish club Partick Thistle have prepared to help fans maintain their mental and physical health.
