There is little sign of life – and football – returning to normality any time soon. So, the best that we can do is to try and forget. This latest issue of Cultured Football hopes to help you do just that.
The racist abuse of players – often hidden beneath the excuse of a lost game – is a sadly increasing trend which social media platforms seem unwilling to tackle. As in other areas, Marcus Rashford is leading the way on how to deal with this issue.
Transfer deadline day delivered a fair few surprises but nothing as dramatic as what happened in 2010, when Liverpool needed to land a big name to make up for losing their star striker. This is how that day unfolded.
It has been a wonderful season so far for Union Berlin who are fighting for a place in Europe. Theirs is a very workmanlike team but if one were to pick a star it would undoubtedly be Max Kruse. That his nickname is Mad Max says a lot about him.
In the grand scheme of things, Jamie Lawrence’s career is barely worthy of a footnote in football’s history. On a human level, however, it is an exceptionally memorable one.
